A collection of land-related documents that also includes some correspondence, estate inventories and ship's papers relating to residents of both Windham and New London Counties in Connecticut. Some of the disparate records include: leases and deeds; a copy of a document about early divisions of land in Connecticut; petitions to the General Assembly from Norwich; a protest signed in Dominica about the loss of horses and hay from the Sloop Supply of New London in bad weather, 1772; a petition to Congress from distillers about the excise law, 1791; a grant from the Connecticut Delaware First Company, 1798; minutes of meetings of the Logical Society (a debating group), 1811-1812; and a resolve from General Assembly to the New London and Windham County Turnpike Co., undated. Other papers were grouped by family name. The Adams family papers include a deed from Thomas Adams of Canterbury, 1776; a probate record appointing William Adams executor of Phineas Adams' estate, 1779;receipts from Roswell Adams, collector, 1811-1812; a letter about the estate of Jeremiah Kinsman, Roswell Adams' father-in-law, 1832; Sibyl Maria Adams' sermon book, ca. 1833; a bill to Roswell Adams from Frances M. Caulkins for tuition of Miss S. Adams, 1833; and correspondence regarding property in Ohio; and a list of articles Mrs. Sarah Adams received of the personal estate of her father Jeremiah Kinsman, undated. The Kinsman family papers include deeds, correspondence, and documents related to the settlement of Jeremiah Kinsman's estate. Perkins family papers include customs documents in which Jabez Perkins is identified as the captain of the Sloop Sterling, 1769 and a bill of sale for a Negro woman named Venus, aged 15 years, 1771. Williams family papers include a statement regarding the settlement of Elisha Williams' estate, 1756; a letter from Martinique which mentions a cargo of 200 slaves, 1778; a bill of sale for Ginne, aged 6 years, to Isaac Williams, 1785; financial records; and the inventory of the estate of Isaac Williams of Stonington, 1844.
